IN THE MIDDLE OF SATAN'S ATTACKS TURN TO JESUS FOR HIS POWER TO DEFEAT THE ENEMY, AND BE VICTORIOUS
When the Creator God completed his creation, he gave Adam only one assignment and one commandment — take care of the garden and do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because you shall surely die.
Sometime after that, the serpent/the devil/Satan/Lucifer appeared in the same garden and began a dialogue with Eve. She was no match for him and soon succumbed bringing Adam down with her, as they both rebelled to the Creator’s commandment and ate of the fruit — this was the first spiritual confrontation between the devil and humans.
God intervened in the situation cursing the serpent and giving him a prophesy that there would be One who would come to crush his head and finish him off. But who is the devil/Satan?
The devil/Satan was a created angelic being and he held a prominent place among the angelic host. His name was Lucifer and the Creator God had blessed him with many virtues —
You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering:
Ezekiel 28:12-13
The Creator God had given Lucifer a special anointed assignment:
You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God.
Ezekiel 28:14
But something happened in the heart of Lucifer — iniquity was found in it!
You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you.
Ezekiel 28:15
Lucifer wanted to be like God:
Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor.
[Ezekiel 28:17]
For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God… I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.’
Isaiah 14:13-14
But the Almighty God did not put up with Lucifer’s rebellion nor with the angels that rebelled with him:
You became filled with violence within, and
you sinned
; Therefore
I cast you as a profane thing out of the mountain of God
; and I destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the fiery stones.
Ezekiel 28:16
Satan/devil/Lucifer was cast down to earth along with his rebellious angels, his demonic army that still follows him. [ Revelation 12:7] This is how we see him appearing as a serpent in the garden where he was able to pass his seed of sin and rebellion to Adam and Eve, separating them from a relationship with the Almighty God who does not accept sin. But before the foundation of the earth, God already had a plan to redeem the human race and bring them back to Him — His Son Jesus Christ did that assignment. [2 Corinthians 5:18-20]
As we read throughout the Old Testament, we see how Satan continued to come between God’s people of Israel and Jehovah God to a point where they were also punished by God and He sent them out of the land, as God did with Adam and Eve.
Today, thousands of years later, the devil is still leading his demonic army into all kinds of evil upon this earth, but especially against God’s people.
The spiritual confrontations are still raging today, as it was in the beginning, BUT now, we have something the people in the Old Testament did not have. Our Savior and our Lord, Jesus Christ defeated the enemy and He proclaimed that all authority in heaven and on earth is His [Mat. 28:18]. And HE has given that authority to born again believers who have been saved and washed in His blood. And in the authority of the Name of Jesus, we can come against the enemy and have the victory. “In my Name, they will cast out demons.” Mark 16:17
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love. [Colossians 1:13]
