SPIRITUAL KINGDOMS IN CONFLICT: LIGHT AND DARKNESS
THE TWO KINGDOMS :
In the natural world, all the peoples of the world live in many different countries with many different types of governments.
But in the spiritual atmosphere of the world, there are only two types of governments or kingdoms: God’s Kingdom of Light and Satan’s Kingdom of Darkness
JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD :
Jesus said:
“I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.”
John 12:46 NKJV
When the person who has been in Satan’s kingdom believes in Jesus and repents of sins, that person is born again of the Spirit of God and that person is taken to Jesus’s Kingdom where he/she will live forever.
This is how Paul explains it:
Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Col. 1:13-14 NKJV
Our heavenly Father gives all humans the opportunity to enter in the Kingdom of His Son Jesus Christ if they believe and repent: Jesus said,
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 NKJV
THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS OF THE ENEMY SATAN :
In Satan’s kingdom, people are controlled by the enemy so that they will not hear nor understand the gospel of salvation of Jesus Christ and be converted. This is how Paul explains this very serious situation:
“But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 NKJV
Satan’s kingdom is organized just like a government of this world and Paul explains this situation again:
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Ephesians 6:11-13 NKJV
Jesus said that Satan had a kingdom; the enemy when he tempted Jesus in the wilderness declared that all the kingdoms of the world were his and that he could give it to whomever he wanted — he offered all the kingdoms of this world to Jesus, but the Lord rebuked him — in the offer, Satan wanted Jesus to worship him and not God. [Luke 4]
THE BATTLE AGAINST THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS:
The battle against the enemy is real and his army and his government are real, as Jesus and the apostles explained:
Jesus
:
If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? Because you say I cast out demons by Beelzebub.
Luke 11:18 NKJV
Peter
:
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith…”
1 Peter 5:8-9 NKJV
James
:
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
James 4:7-8 NKJV
Paul
:
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Ephesians 6:11 NKJV
Paul
:
And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
2 Corinthians 11:14 NKJV
John
: “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the
spirit
of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.” 1 John 4:1-3 NKJV
