Believers and Spiritual Attack
Lesson # 8
Prepared for Battle with the Armor of God
Ready for the Battle:
PUTTING ON THE ARMOR: Ephesians 6:10-18
Belt of Truth:
Given by the Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth.
He leads you into all truth, Kingdom truth.
He brings to your remembrance all that Jesus has taught.
The truth the Spirit gives you shall make you free from the enemy’s deceptions.
The Spirit gives you His truth to wrap like a belt around you so that you will not be deceived by the with the enemy’s lies. John 14:17, 26, John 16:13; John 8:32
Breastplate of Righteousness:
Given by the Jesus Christ
THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS: (YHWH Tsidkenu) — Jeremiah 33:16
The Messiah’s armor — Isaiah 59:16-17
The Messiah will bring everlasting righteousness — Daniel 9:24; Micah 7:9
Righteousness and glory — Isaiah 58:8
Righteousness by faith in Jesus — Philippians 3:9; 1 Peter 2:24
You, as a soldier of God, cannot come to the battle with any other covering or breastplate but Christ’s righteousness — 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Cor. 1:30; Romans 8:10
Feet Fitted with the Gospel of Peace:
Commissioned by Jesus Christ
You have been commissioned to proclaim the gospel of the Kingdom.
You have been commissioned to go into the enemy’s kingdom to rescue those who are trapped and in bondage.
You are bringing the Gospel of peace to those who have no peace.
Your feet are ready to walk into the enemy’s territory and engage him in the battle. Matt. 28:19-20; Luke 4:18; Colossians 1:13; Romans 8:2
The Defense Piece — Shield of Faith:
Promises given by God
You will quench all the fiery darts of the enemy’s attacks. How?
Have faith to stand on the promises from God. You must know what God has given you, as a believer
in Him,
the Body of Christ — 2 Cor. 1:20; 2 Peter 1:4
You must know who you are
In Christ
and have the faith to act upon it: Ephesians 1:3, 4, 7, 11, 13, 14; 2:4-5; 10
You must recognize every fiery dart the enemy sends and stop it from penetrating by faith standing on the truth of God’s revealed Word — Hosea 4:6
Your Weapon in the Battle: the Sword of the Word:
Go on the power and the authority given to you by Jesus Christ
Once you recognize the fiery darts and by faith you understand what God has given you
In Christ,
then you go on the offense with the Word of God.
This is how Jesus stopped the enemy’s attack at the beginning of His ministry— Luke 4:1-13
The enemy will make a prescription of what type of attack to bring against you.
Whatever he knows you are sensitive to, he will send spirits to attack you.
It is at this moment you use the Sword of the Word of God. You must know His Word. You must know His Promises, and you must know who you are
In Christ.
Then you must engage the enemy; resist the attack with the Sword; and finally he enemy will flee—James 4:7
The Helmet of Salvation:
Given by Christ
It identifies you as a soldier in the Lord’s army.
It identifies you as one who has been
saved
from the kingdom of darkness.
It identifies you as one who will be
saved
from God’s end-time wrath — the Hope of Salvation — 1 Thess. 5:8-9. We do the battle with the hope that when the wrath of God is poured on the enemy’s kingdom and the people who follow him, we will be taken out and not suffer. The angels will come to take us out and we will be identified by the helmet of salvation we have on — Matthew 24:31
As a final point, the helmet covers you from the enemy’s attack on your mind.
Bathing all with Prayers:
By the Spirit
Being constantly watchful — do not take a rest in your stand.
Persevering in prayer and supplication for all in the Body of Christ — local congregations and the church in general.
Praying for open doors for the proclamation of the Gospel — with your family, your neighborhood, your city, your country, and the outermost parts of the world.
Finally, be encouraged, Jesus prayed for you!
To be delivered from the evil one — Matthew 6:13
He asked the Father to protect you from the evil one — John 17:15
