Beyond Armageddon — The Great White Throne Of God
Revelation 20:9-15

  1. The End Of Planet Earth :

Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. Revelation 20:11 NKJV

    • In John’s revelation of the end time, he tells that after the final rebellion of Satan and the peoples of the earth against King Jesus and the saints in Jerusalem, the Mighty God will send fire from heaven that will devour all who come with Satan against King Jesus and Jerusalem. (20:9)
    • The sovereign God then sent Satan to the lake of fire where he will stay forever. (20:10)
    • Then John sees in his vision God’s White Throne appearing and at that moment, Planet Earth disappears into the darkness of space. It has served its purpose and now it is no longer needed.
    • Isaiah 24:19-20 NKJV
      • The earth is violently broken,
      • The earth is split open,
      • The earth is shaken exceedingly.
      • The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard,
      • And shall totter like a hut;
      • Its transgression shall be heavy upon it,
      • And it will fall, and not rise again.

  2. God’s White Throne Judgment :

And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. Rev. 20:12 NKJV

    • This is the second resurrection : At the time the first resurrection occurs only the dead in Christ will be resurrected. The rest of humanity will not be resurrected until this time when the dead will appear before the Just Sovereign God.
    • The dead small and great are standing before the Mighty God ready to be judged by what the books will reveal about their lives.
    • The prophet Daniel saw this event in a vision also about 500 years before John had the revelation of this moment:
      • I watched till thrones were put in place, and the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, its wheels a burning fire; a fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, and the books were opened. Daniel 7:9-10
    • Before the earth disappears into the darkness of space, it will resurrect all the dead that it has: The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.
    • Hades is the place where the spirits of the dead who are not in Christ are in. Luke 16:19-31
    • When the books are opened, the dead will be judged by their works, and some will argue against what the books are showing: “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” Matthew 7:22-23 NKJV
    • But those who are in Christ will not be judged since Christ assures us that when we are born again we receive eternal life and we pass from death to life and will not be condemned: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. John 5:24 NKJV
    • Once the judgment of the White Throne is concluded, there is something of the upmost importance —

only those written in the Book of Life will go into eternal life — the rest into the Lake of Fire:

And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:15 NKJV
    • At the end, only those who have been washed in the blood of the Lamb, who have received eternal life, who have been born again and are In Christ will go into eternal life and into the New Jerusalem.
