DOMINION TEACHINGS, THE CROSS, AND THE COMMISSION
Dominion Theology is also known as “Kingdom Now.” In its basic form and teachings, it states that after Jesus’s resurrection and ascension to the Father, he gave power to the church to bring about the kingdom and bring the entire world under the dominion of Christianity. Presently a new breed of apostles and prophets have supposedly received power from God [with new revelations!] to lead the church in taking over the world, restore all things, and hand over to Jesus at His return a restored and Christianized world —
This is another gospel!
THE WORK OF CHRIST ON THE CROSS:
Dominion theology teaches that Christ destroyed Satan’s kingdom of darkness on the cross — INCORRECT!
Since Christ destroyed Satan’s kingdom of darkness, Dominion theology teaches that Christ gave the world to the church to take dominion over, destroy the kingdom of darkness, and bring it under Christianity — INCORRECT!
What Christ accomplished on the cross was to undo what Adam had done for humanity:
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned — Romans 5:12
Therefore, as through one man’s offense
judgment came
to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act
the free gift
came to all men, resulting in justification of life — Romans 5:18
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous — Romans 5:19
Christ’s work on the cross was all about SIN, not about Kingdom.
THE GREAT COMMISSION:
Dominion theology teaches that the church is not to declare the
Gospel of Salvation
any longer, but the
Gospel of the Kingdom
— INCORRECT!
Dominion theology teaches that under this
Gospel of the Kingdom,
we are not seeking the lost to convert, but cities, regions, nations, and finally the whole world to bring under Christianity — INCORRECT!
With intercessory prayers and spiritual warfare, dominion prayer warriors will destroy the forces of the kingdom of darkness controlling areas of the world and these areas of the world will become Christians — INCORRECT!
CHRIST’S COMMISSION:
Jesus said: “
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8
[The power the Holy Spirit gives to the church is to be Christ’s witnesses to a lost world, not prayer warriors fighting for world control]
Jesus said: “
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
” Luke 24:47
[What Jesus told them to bring to all nations was the
Gospel of Salvation
with repentance and remission of sins and NOT the
Gospel of the Kingdom
to dominate the world]
Jesus said: “
Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
” Mark 16:15-16
[What Jesus said to the disciples was not to conquer the world and bring it under Christianity, but to preach the gospel so that people would believe, be saved, and be set free from the kingdom of darkness of Satan who has them slave to sin.]
Jesus said: “
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Matthew 28:19-20
[What Jesus told the disciples to do was to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them what He had taught them. He did NOT say to take dominion over all the nations]
What the Commission is all about: It is to bring the gospel to sinners in the kingdom of darkness so that God would change them and bring them into His Kingdom — Colossians 1:13
WHAT IS THE WORK OF THE CHURCH?
TO OBEY CHRIST AND TO FOLLOW HIS COMMISSION.
IT IS
NOT
TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD AND CONTROL IT —
THAT IS ANOTHER GOSPEL!
