HOW CAN JESUS CHRIST FORGIVE A SINNER AND TAKE AWAY THE PERSON’S SINS ?
The Gospel of John Chapter 1
  1. The Testimony of John the Baptist : John 1
    • He came to testify about the Light coming into the world 1:6-9
    • He declared that the Law came through Moses, but grace and truth through Jesus 1:15-18
    • When asked by the religious leaders of Israel who he was, he answered: ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Make straight the way of the LORD,”’ Isaiah 40:3 (NKJV) 1:23
    • He testified that HE who sent him told him: ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 1:33
    • John the Baptist concluded that: “And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.” John 1:34
    • John’s testimony that Jesus was the Lamb of God caused some of John’s disciples to follow Jesus and they in turn, brought others to Jesus. 1:35-51
    • Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God Who Takes Away the Sin of the World — John declared 1:29

  2. The Day of Atonement : Leviticus 16
    • Once a year the High Priest would go into the Holiest of Holy to make atonement for the sin of the people and for himself. Lev. 16:29-34
    • The day before, the people were supposed to begin afflicting their souls for the sins that they had committed during the past year. Lev. 23:26-32
    • The High Priest would kill a bull and would sprinkle the blood on the mercy seat and before the mercy seat and he would make atonement for the Holy Place. This was a sin offering for himself and his family. Lev. 16:11-14
    • The High Priest would then kill a goat as a sin offering for the people. He would bring its blood inside the veil, do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and before the mercy seat. And he shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, for all their sins. He shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD, and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the blood of the bull and some of the blood of the goat, and put it on the horns of the altar all around. Then he shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, cleanse it, and consecrate it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel. Lev. 16:15-19

  3. Jesus Christ , the Lamb of God Who Takes Away the Sin of the World
    • Sin enters the world :
      • Lucifer/Satan originates sin — “You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you. Ezekiel 28:14-15
      • In the Garden of Eden, the serpent/Satan passed on to Adan and Even the seed of sin and rebellion that had birthed in his being and Adan and Eve received it.

    • Consequences of the seed of sin and rebellion that Adan received :
      • Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned. Romans 5:12 NKJV [The act of Adan of receiving the seed of sin and rebellion from the serpent caused all succeeding generations of humans to be born in sin and spiritual death]

    • Adam’s heritage and Jesus’ work on the cross : Romans 5:17-21 NKJV
      • For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one…the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
      • As through one man’s offense judgment came to all men… one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.
      • One man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.
      • Sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    • Jesus Christ , the Perfect Sacrifice : Hebrew 9:11-14 NKJV
      • But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come.
      • Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
      • If the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh.
      • How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

    • The Blood of Jesus Takes Away Sin :
      • The blood of Jesus cleanses your conscience from dead works — Hebrew 9:14
      • Jesus Christ washed our sins with His blood — Rev. 1:5
      • Jesus’ blood cleanses us from all sin— 1 John 1:7
      • But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 1 Peter 1:18-19 NKJV
      • Jesus said: “For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” Matthew 26:28 NKJV
