The Kingdom of God
Lesson #2 & Video #2
The Throne Room
The Throne of God — Reigning over His Kingdom:
The sovereign ever-existing God reveals Himself to humans through the Scriptures.
Humans can come to know who the Mighty God is through the revelation from the Scriptures. The Holy Spirit of God revealed to His servant the truth about God so they would write it and this reality would serve as a testimony for generations to come.
In the revelation that He has given humans about Himself, we can see how the Almighty reigns over His Kingdom from His throne.
David—
“
Your throne, O God,
is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.”
Psalm 45:6.
The LORD is in His holy temple. The LORD’s throne is in heaven.”
Psalm 11:4
Jeremiah—
“You, O LORD, remain forever;
Your throne
from generation to generation.”
Lamentation 5:19
The author of Hebrew wrote—
"Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand
of the throne of God."
Hebrew 12:2
Jesus Christ tells us about God’s throne—
“But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven,
for it is God’s throne,
nor by the earth, for it is His footstool;”
Matthew 5:34-35
The Mighty God speaking through His prophet Isaiah:
"Heaven is My throne,
and earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest? For all those things My hand has made, and all those things exist,” says the LORD.
Isaiah 66:1-2
Stephen’s proclamation before he was stoned to death:
“However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says: Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool. What house will you build for Me? says the LORD, or what is the place of My rest?”
Acts 7:48-49
Human Witnesses of God’s Throne Room:
Not only did the Almighty God revealed His reality to His servants to write about it, but He also brought some of them up to the throne room so that they could write and report on what they had witnessed. This is what they wrote about their experience in the throne room:
Isaiah:
(6:1-3)
In the year that King Uzziah died,
I saw the Lord sitting on a throne,
high and lifted up, and the train of His
robe
filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy
is
the LORD of hosts;
The whole earth
is
full of His glory!”
John:
(Revelation 4:2,3,5)
Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold,
a throne set in heaven, and
One
sat on the throne.
And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and
there was
a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald… And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire
were
burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
Daniel:
(7:10)
I watched till thrones were put in place, and the Ancient of Days was seated;
His garment
was
white as snow, and the hair of His head
was
like pure wool. His throne
was
a fiery flame, its wheels a burning fire.
Paul:
(2 Corinthians 12:2-42)
I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago — whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows —such a one was caught up to the third heaven. And I know such a man — whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows —
how he was caught up into Paradise
and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
Ezekiel:
(1:25-28)
And above the firmament over their heads
was
the likeness of a throne,
in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness of the throne
was
a likeness with the appearance of a man high above it. Also from the appearance of His waist and upward I saw, as it were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all around within it; and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with brightness all around. Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so
was
the appearance of the brightness all around it. This
was
the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD.
The prophet Micaiah:
(1 King 22:19)
Then
Micaiah
said, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD:
I saw the LORD sitting on His throne,
and all the host of heaven standing by, on His right hand and on His left."
Stephen:
(Acts 7:55-56)
But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, “Look!
I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”
All these witnesses who went up to heaven, except Stephen, came back to report on what they had seen. Yes, there is a throne room and the Sovereign God is sitting on His throne being worshiped and adored by a multitude of angels who are serving Him around His throne. Even though hundreds of years separated these witnesses from one another, they all tell the same story of what they saw when they witnessed the glory of God. It is with great expectation that we, born-again believers, await our turn to be caught up to heaven to see Jesus Christ sitting at the right hand of the Father in His glory. We will also fall and worship the Almighty God and Christ the Son, our Savior and our Lord.
