The Kingdom of God
Lesson #4 & Video #4
Satan’s Angelic Rebellion
Iniquity enters God’s Kingdom :
Lucifer was not just satisfied with his position as head angel covering God’s glory and with all the blessings the Almighty God had given him at the time of his creation. Something happened in his heart — iniquity was found in it. He became proud of all the abilities that God had given him and of his position of leadership among the angelic host. He envied God’s power and God’s glory and he wanted all for himself — he wanted to be the Most High God.
Lucifer led a rebellion in heaven against God’s authority and a third of the angels believed his lies and deception and they followed Lucifer in his rebellion.
He wanted to exalt his throne above the stars (angels) of God. He wanted to be like the Most Height. (Is. 14:14) He said, ‘I am a god and sit in the seat of gods’ (Ez. 28:2)
Caused a third of the stars of heaven (angels) to follow him. (Rev. 12:3-4) These fallen angels are part of Satan’s army (Rev. 12:7).
How did the Sovereign God react to Satan’s Rebellion ?
Satan fell from heaven and was cut down to the ground. (Is. 14:12)
God expelled him from heaven and cast him to the ground (Ez. 28:17)
Some rebellious angels have been reserved in everlasting chains under darkness waiting for their final judgment. (2 Peter 2:4; Jude 6)
The Lake of Fire has been prepared for the devil and his angels. (Matthew 25:41)
When did the rebellion occur?
It is not stated in the Word of God, as to the time of this rebellion, but because of the reference to the word “ground,” it is believed that it occurred after the creation of the material reality.
Can rebellious angels be redeemed?
By what the Word of God declares, it does not seem like they will (Matthew 8:28-31; Mark 1:23-26).
They had eternal life when they rebelled and sinned so Jesus cannot redeem them and give them eternal life. Plus they are unrepentant; they have pledge their allegiance to Satan, and they are set against God. Like Satan, they are in deception believing they will win and will fight with Satan and against the Almighty God to the end (Rev 12:7-9).
The deceiver and his work with humans :
He transforms into an angel of light in order to deceive. (2 Cor. 11:14)
Uses the Word of God to deceive. (Luke 4:9-11)
Jesus said that Satan was a murderer from the beginning and there is no truth in him. He is a liar and the father of it. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own resources. (John 8:44)
His work against humans began in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 3)
