More On The Spirit Of Idolatry, Divination And The Occult :
The Ten Commandments prohibits the making of any idols or the worship of them. — Deut. 5:8-9, Lev. 26:1
Regarding the occult:
“A man or a woman who is a medium or who has familiar spirits shall surely be put to death; they shall stone them with stones.” Lev. 20:27
Things of the occult include: mediums or those who contact the dead, palm reading, horoscope, yoga and meditation using a mantra word, Santeria, Voodoo, witchcraft, mother earth mystics, and all kinds of paraphernalia dealing with the occult and the devil.
A spirit of idolatry:
It does not necessarily have to be a carved image. It can be an “idol” of our own making: e.g. sports, stuff, political/religious/movie personalities, television, electronic gadgets, car, boat, house, career, family, etc. An idol is anything that consumes your thoughts, emotions, and time; and in a sense, it is worshiped more than the Almighty God.
Anything like this can be a “god” before God.
