Print Lesson:
THE SPIRIT OF THE ANTICHRIST FROM THE ENEMY SATAN IS IN THE WORLD COMING AGAINST THE WORK OF GOD
And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.”
Matthew 24:4-5
Deceivers coming in the spirit of the antichrist claiming to be the “Christ”:
John warns about the spirit of the antichrist: “And every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.” 1 John 4:3
John warns of the spirit that opposes Jesus as the Christ and the Son of God.
John names this spirit as “the spirit of the antichrist” and he warns it was already in the world doing its evil work.
John wrote believers had heard about the coming of the Antichrist. How had they heard about it before? From Jesus [Matthew 24:15]; from Daniel [Daniel 9:27, 11:31, 12:11]; from Paul [2 Thess. 2:3-4]. “Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?, Paul asked. 2 Thess. 2:5
But John warns that it is not only coming at the end of the ages, but that it was already in the world.
The spirit of the antichrist in the world throughout the last two thousand years:
Paul describes the power of the antichrist and who is going to give him that power: “The coming of the
lawless one
is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception…” [DECEPTION!!] 2 Thessalonians 2:8
Satan obeys the Almighty God and the enemy is the one who has to produce the antichrist at the end of the ages and this is how John saw it in his revelation: “The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority…And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months…It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.” Revelation 13:2-7
But no one knows the day or the hour [Matthew 24:36] when God is going to cause the end-time events to begin…and Satan does not know either! And this is why John says that the spirit of the antichrist was already in the world because the antichrist is a big player in end-time events and no one knows when the end-time would begin.
Therefore, the enemy always has an antichrist ready and he has had one throughout the last two thousand years. If you look at many historical figures like Nero, Adolf Hitler, and others, they all show the same evil characteristics of the antichrist and the desire to persecute and kill the children of God. Since the beginnings of the 1900’s, that spirit has become very strong throughout the world, as the persecution of Christian believers [Rev. 13:7] has greatly increased…showing us that he might be about to be revealed [2 Thess. 2:7-8].
The revelation of the antichrist, as the rider of the white horse of the first seal:
This is how John saw it: “Now I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder, “Come and see.” And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.” Revelation 6:1-2
Daniel explains how the antichrist comes into the scene conquering: “Then I wished to know the truth about the fourth beast, which was different from all the others, exceedingly dreadful, with its teeth of iron and its nails of bronze, which devoured, broke in pieces, and trampled the residue with its feet; and the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up, before which three fell, namely, that horn which had eyes and a mouth which spoke pompous words, whose appearance was greater than his fellows.” Daniel 7:19:20.
John also describes this beast: “Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name… they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” Revelation 13:1, 4
