The New Testament Church and the Power
The Power and Authority after Pentecost:
Peter:
Empowered by the Spirit preached a sermon and three thousand are converted — Acts 2:14-41.
Empowered by the Spirit preached a sermon and five thousand are converted — Acts 3:12, 4:4.
Peter, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, caused a lame man to walk — Acts 3:2-8.
Peter used by God to punish Ananias and Sapphira — Acts 5:1-10.
An angel helps Peter get out of jail — Acts 5:18-25.
Healing of Aeneas brought many to the Lord — Acts 9:33-35.
Raised Tabitha from the dead and many believed in Jesus — Acts 9:40-42.
Peter preached Jesus to the Gentiles in Cornelius’ house and the Holy Spirit fell on those who heard and they were baptized — Acts 10:38-48.
Herod put Peter in jail, but an angel of the Lord came and set him free.
Stephen:
One of the first deacons (Acts 6:1-6)
Full of power; did great wonders and signs among the people — Acts 6:8.
Was stoned to death after a powerful sermon indicting the religious leaders for their hard hearts in not receiving the witness of the Holy Spirit — Acts 7.
Saul/Paul was in the group among those who stoned Stephen, but he heard Stephen’s witness of Jesus as the Messiah — Acts 7:58.
Philip: Acts 8
Went to Samaria and preach the gospel; great number of people converted and baptized.
Unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice came out of many who were possessed, and many were healed.
The Ethiopian eunuch was converted by Philip’s teaching and was baptized.
Paul:
First mission trip — encounter with Elymas the sorcerer. (Acts 13:8-12)
Work with the Gentiles begins, but brings persecution from the Jews in the synagogue. (Acts 13:42-52)
Crippled man from birth is healed. (Acts 14:8-10)
Paul is led into Macedonia by a vision of a man calling him there. (Acts 16:8-11)
In Philippi, a slave girl with a spirit of divination is set free in the name of Jesus Christ from that spirit. (Acts 16:16-18)
Earthquake in the prison sets Paul and Silas free and later brought salvation for the keeper of the prison and the members of his house. (Acts 16:27-34)
Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.

A young man who had fallen from a high place and died was brought back to life by Paul. ( Acts 20:9-12)
Paul received a visitation from an angel of God that all the people who were on the ship with him in the middle of a great storm were going to be saved. (Acts 27:21-26)
